I didn't get married in Cuba but went there last year on holidays and have to say we had a ball. Cubains and such nice people and really friendly and helpful. I got pretty ill while I was there and I actually felt like I was being looked after like a friend by the hotel staff - hotel got me meds (injection and tablets), doctor, IV drip and it only cost £50 for the lot. I didn't stay in the resort you are marrying in but met a few couples that got married in Varadero and they orgainised it via tour operator i.e. Thomas Cook/thomson/first choice etc etc. If we could have we would have married in cuba. Have fun.

My other half went to playa pesquero when Hurricane Ike hit it, although he was only there for a few days he said it was lovely, and as they would've done major refurbs I expect it's even better now!

Lovely place to get married in, went there for a holiday last December, was great. One tip, do not scrimp on bug spray/cream. I came home with over 200 bites, (made oH count!) My fault as I had some really cheapo spray stuff that never worked, so just look into the best one on the market and buy it, it will be worth it!
And remember to bring back lots of rum for a big Cuba party when you get back!

i first of all told everyone we were going and if they wanted to come then got all thier dobs and full names and went between thomas cook and thomson and got quotes and hammered them down. we were first quoted 1300 per person and 800 for wedding then managed to get it down to 1050 pp and a free wedding

thanks princess. I've already booked the holiday, just need to add on the wedding! but they wont give it us free as theres only 6 adults and 4 children going, if it was over 8 adults i'd get it for free!
i was looking at the link dragon left and it appears to be booking with the hotel direct, exactly same package as thomas cook offer but quite a bit cheaper!
  • It might be worth checking if they will throw in the wedding if you upgrade your room.

That's what we did, and although the cost over 2 weeks ended up being the same, we had a fantastic suite:beer: Not really money saving as such but better value!

Right now I'm having amnesia and deja- vu at the same time. I think I've forgotten this before

You should try and get the hotels email addy so you can email in advance to get an upgrade. Check tripadvisor for info.

Oh and as mentioned above make sure you take lots and lots of good bug spray.
