The cheapest way will probably be a buffet. I mean whats more English than a chipolata, pickled onion and piece of cheese on a cocktail stick!

If you start making Cottage Pies etc your costs will rocket.

Just get a joint of Ham, a Joint of Beef a few tins of Tuna and knock up some sandwiches. You could also have some savoury eggs, cold pizza, bread sticks and dips, plates of crisps, biscuits, and make a huge trifle.

    Best of luck

    Hi there

If i was doing a buffet which i agree would be the easiest thing:

    1. Make sandwiches with whoops bread - stashed in advance
    2. Make a big trifle - jelly is inexpensive
    3. HM sausage rolls
    4. HM Pizza - or whoops
    5. HM bread sticks
    6. watch out for BOGOF on Crisps and drinks and stock up
    7. HM cake - St George decorations obviously
    8. HM popcorn
    9. HM rice/pasta/ couscous salad

    OR Barbeque

    1. Whoops sausages/ chicken wings/ drumsticks
    2. Big bowls of pasta salad or rice salad
    3. Whoops bread rolls - stashed in freezer
    4. HM Cake, snacks and drinks as above

(At barbeques its easy to ask folk to bring a bottle /cans etc)
