It all starts today!!

Hi all

Well here goes, im 25 and a single mum to 3 boys aged 5,3 and 7 months. Long Story cut short lol I got married when i was 19 and then got divorced when i was 22. I got depressed and took out as many credit cards and catalogues as i could!!! I just spent spent and spent until i couldnt spend anymore. i came to my senses November 2008 When i kicked my 3rd babies dad out for being violent. Something clicked in my head that i needed to sort myself out while my children are still young.

Bills were coming in at payments which i couldnt afford. No one knew what i was doing as i kept it to myself. Until one day January 10th 2009 i just broke down to my mum and dad. We sat down and my mum and dad said they would help me out as much as possible, But like i said to them on several occasions I GOT MYSELF INTO IT SO I WILL GET MYSELF OUT OF IT.

We started writing to the companies and paying as much as i could afford per company. Which wasnt alot but at least it was something. May 17th 2009 got with a new fella who stood by me throughout my last few months of pregnancy, and i explained to him my circumstances and he offered to help as much as poss but again its not his problem. July 11th 09 i gave birth to my 3rd son, so stuff got put on hold as they mucked up my money!!

In total i am now in just over £16k worth of debt, I have just set up a dmp so i am paying money back each month and im hoping to have them all cleared by 2016.

I am hoping that i can pay them back sooner, I dont own a car or have any pets. I have cut back on everything so that i can give my children a better look at life.

As the saying goes we learn from our mistakes and we certainly do.

I am hoping that this is the way forward for me and i am looking forward to becoming debt free.

  • ah well done!! with a positive attitude like yours Im sure you will get those debts paid off even before 2016!!
I also have 3 sons (who are a little older than yours are) but I wished I hit my lightbulb moment as early in their lives as you have
