Hi Folks,
I have debts of £15,000. Fortunately most of that is a loan that so far we have been managing to keep up payments on. What I wanted to ask was, around three thousand of the debt is on a couple of catalogues and a couple of credit cards. over the winter we have hit some problems because of the bad weather ie snow I never got anywork so this meant no income for a month as I am self employed. Because we have not managed to make payments to the cards and the catologues for a few months we are now getting letters from debt collection agencies we have arranged with some of them to pay a certain amount a month by direct debit some agencies are really nice and try to help you the best they can other treat you like a pile of dirt. I just wanted to know if there was any other advice that can be given or is this the right route to go by paying the credit agencies a bit every month.
I must add that we did keep in touch with our creditors re our situation but they told us there is nothing they could to and we would keep getting charges put on our account.
Thanks
Simon

Hello Seye :wave:welcome to the board!
The first thing you need to do is work out a Statement of Affairs (SOA) http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html you can find one here.
I think that by paying what you can is always much better than not paying anything so keep going with that. If you put your SOA on here people may be able to come up with ways you can save money and put that towards paying off debt.
Hope that helps!
