CSA might compensate me

Confused me just reading it.
Sorry you are not really much further on, sounds like a nice lady though - could do with her looking at mine. Tomorrow is the deadline for my alledged 'manual payment for arrears that takes 6-8 weeks' I wont hold my breath. Your case is similar to my own, the ex is also self employed and my last letter said they would be 'looking into it' :rotfl: yeah right, heard that one before.
I would be really interested to see if you ever get any further forward, though I expect your child may well be waiting till pensionable age:mad: before you see it - keep everything crossed for you anyway, keep the updates coming.

Dont give up, as far as i know the money starts from the day they make contact with your ex......I have given up with the csa, they are a nightmare and to be honest my ex has no money anyway!!.......
Allthough the money will stop when the child is 16/17/18?? you are still owed back dated money so the case will continue, hope it doesnt get to that stage!!!
Just dont give up!0 -

Yes, that makes me smile because back in 1993 they said it shouldn't take too long. Now they are saying it might take a bit of time! So if 13 years is their 'not too long' I am expecting the 'might take a bit of time' CSA payments to top up DSs pension plan

probably not, cause I dont see how they can pay you out what they havnt received from you're exToto wrote:I am so confused. If compensation doesn't cover the period I missed out (13 years) and the claim is only backdated to the date the real assesment has been done, does that mean I have no hope of any money back?
and I really hope that tax payers dont have to foot the bill
as someone else on here has said you will probably get £50 compensation, I know it stinks, but there are thousands of cases like you'rs mine included
good luck though, my ex chucked in his job so I have £5 per week coming to me, woopy doo

Then they should collect it from my ex! I don't want tax payers money either, but I certainly don't see why he should be living in a mortgage free house, driving a porsche while I am saddled with debt. To be quite honest I don't want this to cover my debts, I am sorting that myself, what I do want is to be able to fund my son's further education so he doesn't leave uni owing thousdands.
I see no reason what so ever why the CSA can't backdate a claim and then take him to court (I would do it myself if I was allowed). After all by their own admission if they had put even the slightest pressure on him, he would have complied in 1996 giving me 10 years of something (even £20 a month is something). But instead they just made a mess of it all and he capitalised on it.
Now he is doing the same thing to someone else, what saddens me most is he was desperate for a child when I became pregnant with DS (who was planned) and then when I was 7 months pregnant he decided he didn't want to lose the lifestyle. His last words to me were, can you not have an abortion, I don't want to be paying forever for a kid I don't want any more. My mother phoned him the day I went into hospital to have my son, he said he wasn't interested. For years I tried to get him to have a part in DSs life but he never bothered. So DS has grown up without a dad, that's the sad bit. So yes I am a little angry. Now, I am fighting to give DS a decent start to his adult life, I will do all of the debt free educating, but I think his father owes him a decent education without having to borrow thousands for uni fees. Perhaps that's wrong, but it feels right to me.:A

Good luck with your case, hopefully your MP will come up trumps. Mine is always very helpful in such cases although failed to explain why just because my ex chooses to live abroad, I don't get any maintenance at all and the CSA can't help. It's frustrating and the kids who suffer.
I can't get my head around why men feel it's OK to wash their hands of supporting their own children.:mad:Do not allow the risk of failure to stop you trying!0 -
13 years?
I can beat that , son's father walked out in 1989 and he's now 18 , never had a penny, last letter I got from CSA was in 1991 ( I think)__________________0 -

I'm really sorry if this is bad news for you but I thought you should know in case you don't go into the other forum. I really hope that you manage to get your compensation sorted out.
