girlfriend moving in

I have debt problems, my girlfriend is moving in with me and will pay half the household cost which will help me a great deal.
but she has a son who is 16 but still at school and will be going into the 6 form.
I'm preparing a statement of affairs to show my creditor how much I can afford to pay them.
will my creditors exspect her to pay more than half the household bills? and how will my debts be affected by her & her son moving in,
thanks for any replies

Hi Mick,
As far as I am aware, your girlfriend moving in should not have any impact on your debts in terms of what your creditors will expect you to pay as long as you and she stay unlinked financially. That is,do not get any financial agreements in joint names as you will then be affecting her with your debt.
I live with my partner - he is amazing with money (I am better since meeting him!) but I had debt - it has had no impact on him in terms of his financial situation or getting credit.
The important thing to remember is not to get any joint finances.
I cannot see why they would expect your partner to pay anything more than her fair share, ie half of the bills. Your partner may be getting child benefit/tax credits which may be affected by her moving in with you as I think they are done on household income, however, that would have been for the last financial year so will not be impacted until next year...I think.
Would you be able to put a SOA up for us to have a look at as we may be able to come up with some other ways of saving...

thanks for the reply,
I'm having difficulty with my SOA as I'm self employed and since mid December I've earned £560, I've been living off my tax money ( money put aside to pay my next tax bill)
how do I put that on a SOA
I'm hoping that work will pick up as the weather improves ( I'm a landscape Gardener amongst other handyman work) so was trying to put off doing a SOA until I can show an income.0 -
Well, if I was you and doing my SOA I would just put down what my average wage is, so look at what you earned all year and then take an average, but you need to put a written explanation alongside to explain that your income is variable and that your SOA displays and average monthly income.
Just a thought but are you advertising yourself as much as possible? I'm just thinking that is sounds like you really need to get as much work as possible at the moment, so are you getting yourself out there and hunting down the jobs?Clearing debt to save for a simple wedding.Starting 2016 With debt of £77000 -
I believe when doing an SOA you put down your lowest rather than your average income.
Then consider the surplus to be variable.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

Stop spending your tax money because you don't want the tax man jumping on you when you can't pay it.
It is difficult being self employed but have you tried getting other customers or even getting a part time job where you work for someone else and get paid whilst keeping up with self employment? I do sympathise because I know what its like to be self employed and earning nothing..I get WTC but my business is starting to pick up so I should be earning some proper money soon. Have you thought of contacting the charity National Debtline as they have a business arm who can help you with your business debt.0 -
