Last minute nerves

Hi there,
Im having a difficult time tonight due to last minute panic.
I have my appointment to go bankrupt on Thursday and ive just about come to terms with this.
However im so worried about the OR interview.
I accrued my debts between 2003-2005 during to a severe manic episode due to Bipolar Disorder.
I lost my job in 2005 and have not borrowed since however I can not remember how I managed to spend so much money.
I never made any large purchases, or gambled, I just spent recklessly, little and often shopping was my addiction.
I do not have any of my cc statements from the time, I burned them when I moved 4 years ago, just lots and lots of DCA letters which I have recieved since.
How am I going to explain where the money went when I can't remember. I have been on heavy medication since 2000, and find it hard to remember what happened 5 days ago let alone 5 years ago.
Any help greatfully recieved.

Personally i would be honest and say excatly what you have written here, tho i may be worng someone will come along and either agree or disagree, My dad is Bipolar so i have a sampling of what life is like for you ... I also suffer terribly from depression. I would be honest and say that it was a bad time in your life and that you haven't spent reclessly since for 5 years and now your meds are getting stable you are coping better.
Best of luck and a huge hug from me to youGot appointment with money matters on 12th Feb re: Scottish LILA BR :Dfingers crossed

Thankyou fa1ryw1ngs
It is all I can do. I have explained all this in my bankruptcy form, I just feel like I sound as if Im making a string of excuses, which Im not. I feel so guilt ridden, but I guess that is normal. Hugs to you and your Dad too X

I would say you were right that we always feel guilty no matter what it's part of the condition and it never helps to be under anymore stress. So have a cuppa and a wee biscuit and try to chill out and breath ..... it will soon be over and then your life will start all over again and imagine how exciting that will be !!!

Dont worry, the OR will not be to bothered if all your debts are form 2005. Do expect for them to ask for a letter from your doctor about your bi-polar. It is one of the symptoms on the NHS website that people with the condition have difficulty controlling their use of money through no fault of their own and most OR's know thatHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.

Hi thier,

If your OR questions your reasons i would print this page out and give them a copy

fa1ryw1ngs - thanks again, I may have to munch my way thru a whole packet of biscuits
Debt info - My Psych, My CPN, My GP and my Crisis Team Doc are all poised to write me letters and ive included their contact details on Bankruptcy Form. So that is a huge relief. Many thanks.
Sizzler : Cheers hey, its all I can do0 -
Debt info - Many thanks for the info sheet, 'tis the story of my life - (sighs) thanks again0

hi there
i just wanted to say try not to worry. what with back up from your gp and the fact your debts are a few years old i doubt the OR will dig very deep or expect you to account for it
bipolar is very powerful and spending is a well known result
it will be fine, honestly x0 -
