Hi all,
My 1st post - can you please help.
Had a DMP a while back.
After looking at my Experian Credit file I have a default on a loan, with a Defaulted date of 19/7/2004 and a Satisfied date of 4/9/2005.
When will my default drop of my file - 6 years after the defaulted date or satisfied date
Thanks
Craig

I'm pretty sure it's 6 years from the default date, so it should drop off your file this June.Jan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55

Sorry Craigsville, I've since read something on This Is Money that suggests it's 6 years from the settlement date... Sorry to confuse you even more!
This link might help http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/credit-rating-credit-score There's a bit mear the bottom about defaults but it looks like you might need to ask the company to remove it.
Hopefully some-one wiser than me will be along shortly to clear up the confusionJan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55

Thanks niccatw,
i was looking to re-mortgage, so that would be great.
I also have 3 partially settled c/c files with satisfacory against them which run out end of 2011 - would these files be a major factor when trying to re-mortgage after my default has dropped off??
I have checked my credit score recently and it is 900 - good, which I found strange with a default!!
thanks
Craig
Just seen your above post - dosn't look good now - bahhhh

Have alook at the links on removing a default here. It might be worth it if you're wanting to remortgage.
I find credit ratings a law unto themselves - there's been a few time where I really thought I was chancing my arm (mortgage being one of them!) but I was ok. Othere times, when I thought it'd be fine and I was declined (store card - in retrospect, thank goodness I was declined)
If you think it might be an issue, it might be worht remortgaging through a broker so you can explain face-to-face rather than be at the mery of automated systems.
(Oh, and to confuse things further again, saw another thread on here that said what I originally did - then my computer froze and I cant find it again!)
Might be worth giving the credit agencies a call to find out (check the numbers on Say No to 0870 website too so the calls cost you less

Good luck - I hope you can re-mortgage fairly easily and sooner rather than later!Jan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55

I spoke to someone from the ICO today and was advised that its 6 yrs from the date of the default, not the settlement date. I'm having the same problem myself but don't give up! x0
