Help! Where can I get seville oranges (Glasgow area)

I haven't seen seville oranges this year at all - are there any West of Scotland moneysavers who know where I can get some?

I was planning to try Roots and Fruits on Gt western road tomorrow, any other ideas?

    Waitrose may have some too...?

  • i cant remember the name of the fruit shop at Shawlands, its just along from the corner where the pubs are, if you are coming from the hospital, you come up to the main st, and its a cross roads, turning left there (right takes you to town), its just on the left

its been a few months since i have been (illness, ugh) but its a lush wee fruit shop that does lots of things you find trouble getting elsewhere
but i would have thought you would find them on Gt Western Road, or even the fruit shop on Byers Road, down on your right if you have come from GW Rd, just about a quarter of the way down

    sorry is rubbish with names!!

    Is that Minard Road?
    That's a lot nearer me.
I was interested to know if anyone has a definite sighting as they're not in the shops for long and I don't want to miss them!

  • I bought some in Morrisons a couple of weeks ago - not in Glasgow I'm afraid, but they may have them in all stores.
  • i am looking at a map

Minard road is the road thats facing me when i sit at the lights, having come from the Victorie direction
the fruit shop is just to my left, if i am sitting at the junction, so that would be Kilmarnock Road which is a continuation onto Pollockshaws Road

    i THINK

it also sells the best Russian Bread, which i cannot master for the life of me
  • Roots and Fruits had them when I was down at the end of January, as did one of the ethnic stores around the corner!

If you didn't manage to find them, Lakeland in buchannan galleries have big tins for £1.99 only containing water and oranges- then all you need is the sugar and I think makes 15 jars.

Very good stuff and very cheap.

Thanks, I got some rather manky ones from roots and fruits and some slightly better looking ones from Imrie's. To be fair R&F said the ornages were rubbish this year due to bad weather apparently.

I just got mine from our local Co-op, & very nice marmalade they made too.
