I have recived an alert from Equifax thats states..........
"TARGET PROFESSIONAL SERVICES , a Debt Collector company, has made an inquiry against your credit report on 29/01/2010 . If you were not aware of or did not consent to this search, contact TARGET PROFESSIONAL SERVICES or Equifax for clarification."
I do not know anything about this or who they are, or indeed why they searched my report. I have also had no contact from anyone.

I would contact Equifax. Not sure what this alert thing is, but you usually only need to give your consent to a full credit check (hard footprint), so if this has been done instead of a soft footprint check, they should not have done this and are in breach of Data Protection legislation. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91
Dad Gift 6k ¦ Savings & Inv Tst: £2,500
Loan 10k: £0 ¦ Dad 5.5k: £2,270 ¦ LTSB: £0 ¦ RBS: £0 ¦ Virgin £0 ¦ Egg £0
Total Owed: £2,270 (+6k) 11/08/20110 -
I have just received another alert today to say they searched again on 9th February !, I don't have a clue why they would now search me yet again for something I know nothing about !.0

Do you have any old unpaid debts that may have been sold on to Target?
Have you moved house at some point and not informed your old creditors?
Did you contact equifax about the previous search?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

It could be an old debt, but you are talking 10+ years as I moved to my present address in 1997, I have not told equifax as I do not know if it is a hard or soft search and I don't want to phone this Target company, although judging by their web site they specialise in Pensions Tracing as well as debt tracing ?.
