  • Probably a really stupid question -

Do the rules apply the same to chicken portions bought frozen? I bought a couple of packs of BOGOF frozen chicken fillets. Is it safe to defrost these, cook a massive curry and re-freeze?

    Thanks
  • Ooops.... meant to ask if this is the same for frozen mince too ????
  • Yup, yup and yup!!! :D I do this all the time, buy mince and chicken (and pork and turkey and beef) and freeze it til needed. I then cook it how I want it and then freeze the leftovers of the meal that I have just cooked. When I want to eat that meal I normally just take it out of the freezer the night before and put it in the fridge, then come dinner time just reheat it!!! Ta-da!!! :D

Yes, for any food it is ok to freeze raw then thaw thoroughly, cook through, refreeze, thaw thoroughly, reheat until piping hot all the way through. But don't then reheat it.
