temp letter for DCA adding money onto debt?

Hi, Just wondering if there is a template letter anywhere for this.
I tried to settle my debt with Moorcroft but they passed it on to another DCA who have added extra money ontop of the debt owed. Ive got a statement from Moorcroft stating the debt and how much has been paid so I can copy that in to the new DCA but not sure how to word the letter. If anyone can help I would be very grateful.
Thanks

As you do not have an agreement with any DCA, the only way they would be able to add interest is if they were acting on behalf of the original creditor. This would mean that the debt has not been sold on.

If it has been sold on, they would need to show that they had a contractual right to add interest. You could check the T&C of your agreement, but unless it specifically states that the right to add interest is transferable, they shouldn't be doing it (possibly fraud).

I think there has been a misunderstanding somewhere with the DCA's because I have the statement from Moorcroft which shows up to my last payment made which is the correct amount owed. Yet these new guys have added an extra £10, not a lot but it is when you havent got much money.

I would send the template letter for setting up a repayment plan, but also add a sentence that you dispute the amount owed as your latest statement from Moorcroft has a different balance.

These are the letters from the nationaldebtline website.

I was rather thinking of sending a settlement offer as I just want this all done with. I dont have the money to do it right now but I know that I can borrow it if necessary. I have just started a new job so no money coming in at the moment til the end of the month.

This letter is quite a good one. It has the money coming from a 3rd party, informs that you can make payment within 2 weeks of confirmation and stipulates that you will not be liable for the remainder of the debt.

Adjust it to suit your situation, but i think it covers everything quite well.
