I have just been to Morrisons in Caterham; the up front wine offer was JP Chenet red vdp Languedoc was£9.99 now £4.99.....I live in France and sometimes buy this wine for around 2.20 euros!!!! No way would it sell for 10 quid, so it should be around £4.
Where was it for sale at £9.99? Hebrides?
I thought that this type of scam went out a long time ago, yet I suspect that many supermarkets do it; I have noticed some suspicious deals in Sainsburys
Don't get caught!

If you live in France how do you know the price of wines over here?
The price of wine in France is not an indication of the price it sells for in this country.0 -
Stores only have to have it on sale at the higher price in a few stores for a short time. Supermarkets don't write the law.0

You can only really compare it with the same wine in the other UK supermarkets!
All the wine in France is cheaper!0 -
That's because it's not taxed at about £1.50 a bottle or whatever it is...[strike]-£20,000[/strike] 0!0

I'm here now and allowed for difference in tax by saying 2.2 euro wine should sell for £4. It's still a bogus deal.geordie_joe wrote: »If you live in France how do you know the price of wines over here?

It's not a bogus deal if it was previously sold at £9.99, regardless of how much you think it should be sold for.
Anyone can look at any item in a shop or supermarket and say "You can get that cheaper in XYZ country, therefore it is a bogus deal/price".0 -
The governments ability to tax is above and beyond the realms of reason suffice to say france is far more reasonable on lifes essentials
