Clear Credit file?

I have a good credit history in my name but my husband's is not so good as he has a County Court Judgement against his (long story short, husband rented van and 'friend' borrowed it, damaged it, agreed to pay us the £100 cover charge to the company, didn't, it then went to the cost of fixing it ie £1300, which we didn't have and it went to court...) The remainder of the file is good. This CCJ is 6 years old this month. Does anyone know if this will clear from our credit file?
The reason I am asking is I need to a newish car and would like to be able to get the best finance available to us. I do not want to try for the loan at the end of the month only to be refused and which would make the file worse. I have heard after 6 years, bad credit drops off your file but just wondering if anyone has any experience of this
Any advice welcome

is the CCJ paid? if so it will come off 6 years after the issue. Check his file before looking at credit. It can take time to update ie of they update records every month it may take a week or so to come off. If it doesnt automatically drop off contact the CRA and get them to remove it0

Are you and OH financially linked? do you have joint financial products? if not then if you apply for credit in your name it won't be affected by his CCJ.
If you are linked then ideally wait until the 6years are up and then check his credit file first.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
