Is is safe to save after bad debt?

10 years ago things were bad and I owed money to too many places to remember.
Now, with many thanks to this site, I am no longer in debt. In fact I actually have some money to save.
I know this if any old debts came to haunt me they would be statued barred so they are non enforcable.
But what if I saved some money with a bank that I owed money to 10 years ago. Could they take my savings?

On the internet you can be anything you want. It`s strange so many people choose to be rude and stupid.

I'm afraid I don't know the answer to that. I would assume not if they are statute barred as you only need pay if you want to. But then again, this is a bank we are talking about. Sorry- not very constructive advice there!Jan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55

Thanks all, I have given it some thought and to play it safe my savings will go in the Barnsley building society as I am 100% sure that I have never been involved with them before.
Cash crisis, I see its your first post so welcome. Your name suggests you have a cash crisis , plenty of really good help on this board. Helped me loads in the past.On the internet you can be anything you want. It`s strange so many people choose to be rude and stupid.0 -
I would suggest choosing a bank you have not had dealings with.
When you say `any debts coming back to haunt me` are some debts still remaining??DebtFree FEB 2010!Slight blip in 2013 - Debtfree Aug 2014 :j

It is possible that a few debts may remain. Think we posted about the same time , hence the Barnsley building society idea as not a bad deal.On the internet you can be anything you want. It`s strange so many people choose to be rude and stupid.0
