I was so pleased when i saw in my local somerfields they had big packs of ground almonds for 60p a pack. reduced. i have so many recipes that call for this. but it is fairly expensive so i tend not to by it.
but the one prob is, it says on back best before end of july 06. now i often use herbs and spices that are over their best before date. but does anyone know if i can keept this past it's date and if so how long for. as i want to buy some more if i can keep it longer.
many thanks in advance.

I tend to keep mine in a tight lidded container and once they start to approach their use by date, I start keeping them in the fridge.
Alternatively, if you have any asian shops around you, buy a big bag of whole almonds and store them in a jar. Grind them as and when you need them. To eat them as they are is delicious, and I use them chopped in rice puddings too.0 -
i wish we did have some ethinc shops around. i live on the isle of wight and we have nothing at all like that. it is a real shame. although i do belive there is a good one in southampton so i may get a ferry one day and go on the hunt.0

You can store nuts in the freezer.
I am positive ground almonds can be frozen and used straight from the freezer.I would do that if I used nuts(dd allergic).0
