not sure if this the right place to post this, but when i was in boots earlier, i bought some own brand infant paracetamol suspension (100 ml), normally £1.99, and when i looked at my receipt it was £1 off as part of a 'health club promotion'. it was not labelled as being on offer on the shelf or anywhere else i could see.
i'm guessing this only applies to health club members, but it's free to join. unfortunately i didn't notice it when the SA was scanning it, else i'd have asked for more info...

Yeah it is for health club members only. But they have changed the conditions on it so it is only open to people over 60 now. People that are already in the health club get to keep it. Hope this helps!0

Good to know.
I put in a repeat prescription for Calpol with my GP 2 days ago. A stern WE DO NOT ISSUE PRESCRIPTIONS FOR CALPOL, PATIENTS MUST PURCHASE IT was received when OH went to pick up the prescription.
Guess I need to buy from Boots...Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

I had the same response from my Doctor, I was quite miffed, as there is not much you can get free in life nowadays and my daughter is entitled to free prescriptions - why have it on a repeat prescription if they are not entitled to it! At least we have MSE for free, Martin is my life saver....YOU LEARN SOMETHING NEW EVERY DAY

But if the NHS keeps doing prescriptions for cheap medicine like Calpol, how will the Doctors get their £90,000 a year wages + overtime.
I have the utmost respect for the work that Doctors and many people do in the NHS but some of them need to remember that we all pay for them and there is a balance of helpful and tight fisted.New PV club member. 3.99kW system. go to your local chemist and ask them to create a prescription using the com care scheme, you will then get it free and many others to.0

can i just put in a word on behalf of the nhs here - they have increasingly tight budgets and will continue to have for the foreseeable future, and decisions have to be made by each PCT as to how best to spend the limited resources available - they have to balance the needs of all the thousands of patients living in their area, and it may be that offering free prescriptions for a cheap-to-purchase medicine for non-life-threatening conditions, like calpol, may mean they are less able to fund very expensive treatments for life-threatening conditions, like cancer treatments.0

since when could you get calpol for free? i'm keen to know more i must have spent a fortune on the stuff over the years, do you need a prescription for it though? as thats not worth a wait at the docs.0
