The three credit reference agencies will not display if a person has a criminal record, not will give details of past crimes/convictions/sentances etc.

I have never seen a loan application form asking if the applicant has a criminal record.

CCJ's will be held on file against an individual for 6 years by the CRA's at the last address held by them.

If you move and the CRA can not find a link back to you at your previous address it makes it very difficult for them to show that you ever had any past previous unpleasantness.

The whole credit referencing system has this inherent weakness to it, thus why they always want to know where you have been for the past 3 years.

If you have just returned from abroad for example the whole system just falls down.

The reason for asking for 3 years of address history is twofold:

    1. To accurately target the correct person on the bureau
    2. To enrich bureau's data by providing new address links

Address links are also provided by financial institutions and utilities when you advise them of a house move or they discover it for themselves. Lenders get to see the data from all the addresses you provide and any links that the bureau finds when it searches your file.

If insufficient account data is returned, you will probably be declined for having what is known as a "thin file".

I'd say the system was fairly robust actually.
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.

Hi. I am a good, clean, honest person.

But you know they say knowledge is power and all that

So... I was wondering.. how do you do cheque fraud? Is it when you steal a cheque book and then write cheques to yourself?

or did she try and print out her own cheques on her computer. I know someone who tried it on MS word once.. they looked rubbish.

Maybe she could PM me and give me some tips. (I am thinking of going into the anti-cheque fraud profession, so all the info you can give me would be great)

hmm.. or is it like that film.. 'catch me if you can?'

Have a word with yourself will you, or up your medication, you sound like a plank, anti-cheque fraud profession my a--e..........

Just to reiterate a point made above, credit reference agencies hold only civil money claims made through the courts. They do not hold details about criminal convictions.
