How do i go about this post BR clean-up?

Hi, can someone please explain what i have to do now i'm discharged to clean my credit files up, i had joint debts with my ex, i went BR, she never, so she's still liable for the debt! but obviously i'm not...so do i have to contact my creditors with a copy of my ED notice? and should i write a brief letter of explanation along with it?..and also how do i disassociate myself with my ex with the credit agencies, is there a website where i can fill out a form to say she doesn't live with me anymore and i'm nothing to do with her or her debt?

    Thats ok no worries:)

I'm just after some straight forward answers, as i'm a little bit confused as to who to write to and when and how!

The sticky in question has a letter template but in reading it, the letter seems to imply that it is a last ditch effort after numurous previous attempts to get the CF changed, only i've only been discharged a few weeks and i haven't checked my credit files and haven't tried to get them changed and like i say i want total severage from my ex's credit rating, maybe i'm a bit thick:o it's all soo confusing, it was easier to go BR.

Now you are discharged, have you got a copy of your current credit file ?

Once you have that go through all of your creditors, send then a copy of your discharge notice and ask them to change your record for you. If any question the debt and your ex, you can reiterate the situ and suggest they contact her forthwith.

Hi, check your & her credit file first and clean up as necessary. You must be discharged before you do this.

I used a slightly modified template (from sticky) and sent from my wife to Joint account (I had already sent separate one from me). It worked as they modified her account to show satisfied however be warned.....

No soon as she notified them (HSBC), although they updated her credit ref file account, they began ringing her under banner of Metropolitan chasing the money - very aggressive phone calls. Sharp practise if you ask me. We have ignored as Met are internal dept of HSBC and as I said they have updated file. So both are files are OK

Don't worry about the fact you haven't sent previous letters, the template letter gets them moving - and thats the objective

Hope helps - good luck (it will take up to a month so be patient)
