Identity theft on a loan

Hi
Ok, I read the sticky's but couldn't find any info, sorry if this is in the wrong place.
A friend of mine has had someone take out 2 loans in there name, and they are now being persued for re-payment of these loans. Can anyone suggest what my friend should do next? Are there any professional people who can help with matters like these?
My friend has reported this to the police and given the crime reference number to the loan company, but they are still chasing for money.
My friend really doesn't know what to do next, can anyone suggest anything?
Many thanks if anyone is willing to offer advice

Maybe worth your friend going to CAB to get professional advise about this.
Your friend has already been to the police and has a crime number are they doing anything??
In the mean time your friend needs to keep in contact via letter to the loan company (and keep ALL letters from them).
The loans were taken using your friends ID but what about address details etc? surely the loan company can track where the money went? ie bank account it was paid too.
Hope they get it sorted out xDebtFree FEB 2010!Slight blip in 2013 - Debtfree Aug 2014 :j

Whoever the loan is with, i.e. the bank. Tell them and the police asap that credit has been taken out in your name and you are the subject of identity fraud.
Say that their delay in reacting in contacting them was because you didnt know what had happened/what to do. Thankfull your friend came here to find help.
Really once you have told them, there is little else you can do, fraud is a problem for the bank to recover funds and improve security, and for the police to catch and arrest the culprits. All you need to do is comply with any fair requests they make.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0
