Query on mortgage payments

I hope someone can advise us.
We completed our remortgage away from Northern Rock on 28th Jan but on the 1st Feb they took a payment as they normally would.
Our new lender has yet to set up a DD to start their payments.
I cant get through to NR customer service at present but does anyone know if they automatically refund payment or we have to go through a 'system'?
We're concerned that our new lender will also take their payment soon leaving us in a bad financial situation
