None of they above.
While your account is with Collections it is still technically a Current Account or Loan and they will be unwilling/unable to accept a F&F settlement. I recently sent them an offer and they point blank ignored it. I had to phone them to find out they had refused it.
The very nice man on the phone (a rarity at LTSB I must say) tried to appease my anger (see my rant thread - Link to follow) and in the end, said that he would bounce my account over to LTSB Recovery. At that point it becomes an unpaid "debt" as apposed to an open account. At that point they are able to negotiate.
Hope this helps.0 -
A word of warning - if you do send any payment to the collections centre, make sure you send it special delivery so that it can be tracked via Royal Mail website.
I had two loans that were sent to collections a few years back after two consecutive redundancies. As you can imagine, a small fortune in charges amassed, but, after years of harrassment because LTSB kept screwing up one of the direct debits (9am Sunday morning phone calls from Lloyds, 35 phone calls over one week whilst on honeymoon, etc etc etc) we agreed on a full and final settlement for both loans.
Cue more hassle as two weeks ago I sent a banker's draft for almost £4k and a cheque for a smiliar amount to settle both accounts (both of these were from different banks, kindly loaned to me by family). Both disappeared within the system and even though the cheque had cleared, the muppets in LTSB collections told me that it wasn't showing in my loan account...so where had the money gone?
I had proof from Royal Mail that both had been delivered on 17th March, thank goodness, and finally discovered that the money had been in the loan account for two days....but why couldn't the muppets in the collections centre see this???
The second amount, a banker's draft for almost £4k, is still missing and I have spent over 4 hours on the phone trying to trace it. I have the electronic signature from when it was delivered 13 days ago, but no-one seems to know where it's gone!!! Every time I call I get a different 'advisor' who tells me they'll get someone to call me back, but guess what....no one calls me back! They said I should cancel the draft, but I have been advised by the issuing bank that doing this and reissuing a new draft will take 28 days and that we will be charged a cancellation fee. Based on the track record of LTSB telling me all manner of different things, I have asked that they write to me confirming that I will be reimbursed the cancellation fee PLUS the 0845 call charges before I cancel banker's draft, but they 'don't have the facility' to write letters like that!!! Anyway, who's to say that in 28 days, we won't send a new bankers draft and that goes missing as well. Grrrr.
Surely I can't be the only person experiencing such incompetency.
I do feel a tad better though having got this off my chest :mad:0 -
No you are not. by a long shot I imagine. Don't send anything to the collections dept at Lloydtsb without making sure it gets signed for,and even then they will lose or claim they didn't receive it, but at least then you will have evidence.
I'm waiting for a response to a complaint.....again......except this time it went via the financial ombudsman and LloydsTSB still haven't even written back to acknowledge receiving it. I'm convinced that the mail they receive is either used as toilet paper or eaten as it is certainly never responded to :rotfl:0
