Really, really quickly in a frying pan with lots of butter and maybe some garlic.
They honestly need the briefest of cooking time -minutes only, just sear them on each side.If you cook them too long they will go rubbery.HTH0 -
That sounds lovely thank you very much.0

I lurvvvvvvvvvveee scallops.
As Thriftlady says, cook, then toss into cooked pasta.
If your not keen on garlic replace with leek.
Wash down with a glass of white wine.

I would never dream of buying them but they are 85p each at the moment in morrisons so i thought i would have a go.
I like the pasta idea i was wondering what to have with them.
Thank you0 -
Oh lovely, is that the biq queen ones? Mmmmm mmmmm mmmmm.
A more affordable way is I occassionaly buy them off the fish counter when on offer or reduced. Alternatively I buy them frozen. They are such a treat.
If you have them with pasta, toss the cooked pasta into the pan so that all that cooking butter/liquer coats it.

They are a bit of a 'treat' food. They were one of the things I bought when OH and I went away for my 40th last Dec.We were staying in a cottage and I wanted things to cook that were really quick but special.Scallops fitted the bill.OH is taking the kids camping for a week soon (I don't camp:eek: ) so scallops will be one of the things I'll be treating myself to again:D0

It's just occured to me-aren't you only supposed to eat shellfish when there's an 'r' in the month? So not between May and August
Glad they were nice Funky:D0 -
Think it's only oysters. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0

My dad kindly treated me to some scallops today as I mentioned that i'd never tried them. Now to him (being an ex-chef) cooking them is easy, but I am worried i'm going to over cook them as i'm paranoid about things being raw!
He's given me 'guidelines' on cooking them, but what would you serve them with? I don't really want any thing with flavours that are too strong as want to taste the scallops, but no idea what really goes with them.
Thanks for any suggestionsGrocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100
