Trying to get a grip on my debts

Hi All,
I need some advice and help. I have been in debt for some time now and am only just facing up to the issue and trying to deal with it. I think I have about £15000 worth of debt (1 credit card at £5k) and 2 loans at 5k each. The issue I am facing is trying to work out who the debts are currently with. I know one of the loans (MBNA) is with Equidebt because they have recently offered me a settlement. Another is HSBC (credit card) but it is not with them anymore but I have no documentation from whoever is managing the debt now, the same with the other debt!
Basically my question is how can I find out which debt companies currently manage my debts so I can contact them. I have done a credit check on Experian and the only debt that shows up is the HSBC one which confuses me!?
Sorry for the lengthy message, I am really keen to work this out so I can start moving forward with this and start feeling positive about life again.
I hope someone can help
Tom

You say you have been in debt for some time.
Has it been 6 years since you last made a payment to any of these debts? If so, they may be statute barred.
Other than updating your details on your credit file, i'm not aware of any other way of contacting an unknown creditor. You could send a subject access request (cost £10) to the original creditor to try to get a copy of the notice of assignment, but if that company has then sold the debt on, you would need to do another SAR and they may not have kept the details anyway.
I would start putting money aside so that when or if they did contact you, and the debt was not statute barred, you could make a reduced full and final settlement offer, so you may be able to pay it all off but it would cost you less. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91
Dad Gift 6k ¦ Savings & Inv Tst: £2,500
Loan 10k: £0 ¦ Dad 5.5k: £2,270 ¦ LTSB: £0 ¦ RBS: £0 ¦ Virgin £0 ¦ Egg £0
Total Owed: £2,270 (+6k) 11/08/20110 -
Thanks George, I am pretty sure that I have made payments within the last 6 years.
This is really upsetting me and worrying me. Fingers crossed I can find out who they are. I am so angry with myself for letting it get like this.0
