I did a blue/green sea around DS2's 'ship' birthday cake last year. Apple juice, vegegel (because it's much easier than gelatine and tastes nicer) and blue food colouring in about 3 different shades swirled together
Blimey, 3 different shades?! Now thats just showing off :D
Thanks for the tip about vegegel, i'll give it a go.
I doubt the flavour will be a problem, i'll probably just scrape the jelly off before wrapping the pieces of cake up to go in the party bags.

Just use the vege gel with fruit juice..apple or a good one is Welch's white grape with apple and pear. Then add food coloring.

    tasty
  • Use gelatin, blue food colour and fizzy lemonade, either regular or sugar free instead of water. Of course the bubbles don't stay, but it solves the flavour and sweetness problem.

inspired! (but I'd still use vegegel rather than gelatin)
