Fitting everything into a day (cleaning, cooking etc)

Hi all,

Realise this isn't truly about money saving and hope it's the correct board but wondered if I could get some tips on how to keep on top of all the household jobs. I've read a few of the posts here which have been helpful so far :)

There are 3 of us in the house (myself, my boyfriend and our lodger). We are in the process of rennovating our house which only makes the situation worse because I feel I am constantly cleaning and tidying 'mess' which wouldn't normally exist in a house.

I work from home which gives me the opportunity to do things like put the washing on but I can't stop work to clean for instance.

I feel like every day I am cleaning the same areas and tidying up, making little difference. I also don't know how to get across to the boys I live with that I have to tidy up after them also as they are doing work on the house. Things seem to get dirty/dusty the day after I have cleaned and I can't keep up :(

How do you fit everything into a week and not end up constantly cleaning, cooking or doing the washing? Sometimes it feels never ending. I can't imagine how people cope with more people living in the house!

Any advice appreciated.......

    Hi jimbugalee,

I have found the flylady thread invaluable in getting my house in order. :) Once I got to grips with it, it really takes only a small amount of time every day to keep on top of things. and the lovely people who post on the thread are always there to give support and encouragement to each other.

    Here is this week's thread:

Weekly Flylady Thread 1st February 2010

I'll add your post to that one later as the lovely people who post in the thread will give you lots of support and encouragement.

  • Thanks Pink - that's useful, I had been reading it briefly before that. Do they not do any cleaning on Fri/Sat/Sun?! My house couldn't cope with that!!

I clean my kitchen every day and bathroom twice a week already. Fireplace gets cleaned every day. There are some bits which I am definitely missing. Find it difficult with building mess everywhere!
