I posted last week to say that I had finally taken the plunge and gone with a self administered dmp. I downloaded the letters from the CCCS website and sent them off.
However, I have decided to ring the companies as well to let them know as a courtesy. But being a coward I couldnt cope with ringing them up all at once so I have done it daily. The ones I have contacted couldnt have been nicer. One have accepted my repayment offer and will stop charges and reduce interest once they receive my soa. the other company have said that they will accept reduce payment but will have to send me a default notice - which is what I expect. But they were so nice to me on the phone and put me at easy not what I was expecting.
So the next on my list is barclaycard.

Hi Michelle, that is what I found too. As long as you are being proactive and making an effort to address the problem it is in the creditors best interest to support your efforts.
It is a lot harder for some people where the debt is so high in comparison to current income that the creditors don't feel they are getting anywhere, so not everyone will get treated the same way.
I always have to remind myself before I pick up the phone that I am just talking to another person - although they represent the creditor, they are human, just like me, and they are as keen to have a positive conversation as I am.DMP mutual support thread member 3730 -
On pro rata my payments are either just below the minimum payment or in one case 50% lower, but if they can stop the interest for a while to let me get the debt down it will be so helpful.0
