Selling Standard Life Endowment Policy

I've just read this article about surrendering Standard Life Endowments...
http://www.surrendalink.co.uk/news/latest/

Is there any risk involved in selling a policy or in just getting a quote? I'm thinking the extra money on top of the shares may be enough to pay of the mortgage.

Thanks!

We're thinking of doing the same with our policy as we are changing to a repayment mortgage so they money will be useful to clear some debt so our monthly outgoings will go down which will enable us to take our mortgage over a shorter term. I was originally going to surrender it but after reading some of these threads I think it would probably be better to sell it on.

Anyone had any experience with this? I would really appreciate your views on this.
