could you try a mild bleach solution?
  • I've put lemon juice on rust stains before and left over night the stain has come out. Other than that I think stain devils do a rust remover. Good Luck!

If the stain doesnt come out, how about dyeing them? Linen should probably dye quite well. If they are a good fit, and in good condition then it would be worth the couple of ££s cost of the dye. hth

Hello. I wonder if someone can help me. Got out my summer linen white trousers yesterday and noticed there is a brown stain on them which almost looks like the colour of rust. There is a little metal belt on them which has a tiny tiny bit of rust around the metal but it looks like it may have transferred onto the trousers. I washed them last night and used vanish but it is still on there ...

Does anyone have any ideas ... I've had them for about 10 years so they lasted well but apart from the stain (which is noticeable) there is nothing wrong with them... I really don't want to throw them away...

    Any ideas gratetfully received ...

Where is the brown stain? Not just a case of wet fart syndrome?
Who I am is not important. What I do is.
  • Don't know how to get out the stain but at times like these I have covered the stain or rip with an applique. These can be sewn on or ironed on and are cheap to buy. Also, if I'm disposing of any old clothes which have an applique on, I take it off and keep it in my sewing box for use on occasions like these - this also works with sequins, bits of lace or ribbon etc.

Not OS but one thing that definitely gets rust out of white clothes is DiDi7, not even sure you can still buy it but it got terrible rust stains off some white denim I had years ago
