Thanks to craig_1986 on HUKD:

Sky have recently changed they box production and are no longer making sky+. Standard boxes are only being made for multiroom. This means if you want a new box it automatically becomes Sky+HD. because of this all HD box prices have became less. Prices below are for existing customer booking first HD box over the phone:

Sky+HD on its own - WITH HD mix:

Box was £49 install was £60
Box now £0 Install now £60

Sky+HD WITH multiroom AND HD mix :

Box was £49 install was £30
Box now £0 Install now £30

Sky+HD on its own with self install WITH HD mix. Sent In post must have sky+ already:

NEW Option

Booked online:

Sky+HD WITH HD MIX and multiroom

Box was £49 Install was £30
Box Now £0 Install now £0

*Taking the Sky+HD box WITHOUT the HD mix gets the sky+ function and freesat HD channels (channel 4hd, BBC HD, itvHD (can be added search Google)) This is now basically the sky+ box but at half the price it was(sky+ box was £99) but with a hard drive upto 3x the size. HD mix £10/month. Multiroom £10/month

HD boxes now are coming with 500GB hard drive and in case you are interested there is now a premium HD box with 1.5TB hard drive but I am afraid it comes with a premium price tag. £309 installed.

I did this deal yesterday! Phoned cancellations and got free install, free hd box, and they are moving my sky+ box into my bedroom!

1.5TB? I would love that, but wouldn't be able to afford it lol.

I already have a Sky+HD box and it gets filled up really quickly whenever I have the movies package lol.

In a couple of years, hopefully less, you won't have to pay for the HD mix, it will become standard! Bring on Freeview HD to speed things along!
  • Hiya, quick question...if i take out multiroom in 2 rooms does that mean i have to pay 2 charges? or will is still be £10 a month?

You would have to pay £10 for each box.

So if you have 2 standard boxes for multiroom it would be an extra £20pm.

Same applied to HD. Each HD box will need to have it own HD sub if you want all the HD channels ( £10 pm ).
  • Just to add to this, i am existing sky customer with BB and mulitroom. Rang yesterday re HD was told free box £60 install - said i wanted to cancel, went to retention team now i have free HD box, free install (coming Thursday) and sports and movies free for 2 months
