This is possible! :j
I met 2 great people on a website called carshare.com and now we all take turns driving. Basically that means I leave my car at home 2 days out of 3. Which is ideal when you commute 30 miles a day!! I've been doing it over a year now and have already saved over £800, plus we've become great mates, going to each other's BBQs, etc. Really recommend it. Sam x

But not ideal if you all work different hours
I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

Not to mention the other drivers going in the opposite direction working in YOUR town, maybe doing the same type of job as you.
Across the road from me are some builders doing a round trip of 40 miles a day, when there are local builders could do the same job without the CO2 emmissions.
Carshare could be the answer or part of the answer ,Sam, maybe homeshare next.
All this freedom to work where you want and freedom to employ whoever you want from wherever you want aint good for the environment.0 -
Sadly, it seems that government departments are also generating unnecessarily long journeys, with contractors travelling hundreds of miles to carry out fairly simple tasks:

We travel further and further for the same goods and services, not because we need to but because we can. Who pays the true cost of increased travel?0 -
Nice one Sam.
I've tried car sharing before as well, within 1 mile of myself are 3 people I work with.
We work in different areas, myself being in Production Support.
Even though we were all going to the same destination, it just did not work.
There was always one of us who had to deal with a problem and remain behind, or
I'd get called out over night, so didn't go in that day and it would be my turn to drive etc.
We gave up on it in the end, so now we continue to all drive to and from work along exactly the same piece of road. Madness... but unavoidable.
Car-sharing works for some, but in the current working world it's not viable.0
