Clipping a cat's claws?
Comments

I got mine from PAH, I think they were about £7-£9? They are like two hook shapes with a red rubber handle, so you can get the claw in the hole and clamp down. Still much easier for someone to hold the cat while you clip, or vice versa! The ones I got are awesome, and slice through the claw like butter

I clip my cats claws - he's 20
I have to watch them because if I don't keep them clipped they curl round until they are sticking into his little pads.
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -
Well, we are back from the vets with a nice neat pedicure. She was as good as gold...and the vet did not charge me a penny ( perks of having a vet 3 doors down! )0

Ive got the same claw clippers i think (they also have a little thingy so that you shouldnt be able to cut too far.) and they are fantastic.
Cutting cats claws is so much easier than dogs, all i do is get the OH to hold the cat and then i hold each foot putting a little pressure on the paw so she unsheaths her claws and then trim the ends.
Id definately rather do it at home rather than a stressful trip to the vets, but maybe if your nervous than get the vet to show you how the next time you go?0 -
Now I have seen it done I think I would be able to handle it....but then again she has to have 3 month check ups at the vet and it's much easier for him to do it!0

I take Zeb to the vets 2/3 times a year. Manicure & pedicure all for £7.50. Might seem a lot but a cat behaving like a velcro strip and obviously not enjoying the experience is not funny.0

Imagine if you cut your toenails that infrequently!:eek:0 -
Noah last has his nails clipped early October, and they only got too long late January: he has two cardboard scratchers that he uses daily, but it isn't quite enough. He cost me £18 for his check-up/ears cleaning/claws clipping plus £7 taxi so he is not going any more often than needed!

I agree with the others here, cats grow their claws long when their old, its best to clip them back a bit.0
