Flexible loans are always more expensive. However, for a short-term loan interest rate is not very important. Also be aware of the fact that that the interest rate is 'typical' and is not fixed. Regarding Cahoot see this thread a few lines below: Cahoot Flexible Loan

Have you tried a 0% interest rate credit card?

I'd agree with grumbler, because of the short term nature of the loan a 1 or 2 % difference in APR shouldn't make a huge difference. I have a loan with Cahoot which allows me to pay off more or less each month, or settle early without any charges. However the APR is now 8.7%, when I opened it with a 6.5% (like credit cards they can change the APR at any time). APR's for fixed term loans aren't changed and usually you will only incur a charge of two months interest.
