Wish to purchase a Bamix Deluxe food blender (stick type) after having seen one on a shopping channel on the TV.

Important - want one in black to match my worktops.

Did some research on the internet and eventually discovered that Lakeland sell this piece of kit. Phoned up, asked if it came in black and she said yes. Three blades, stand, grinding mill. (Not bothered about a Gordon Ramsey book/CD/beaker, which is what the TV one comes with at more expense.) So I ordered it. It came today and guess what? It's dark blue!!!

So ... trying without success to find a reputable company from which to purchase another at a similar price (£100).

If anyone has any ideas on this subject I would be grateful.

Good and bad reviews on Bamix blenders also welcome.

PS - Have looked under House of Fraser, Debenhams, and John Lewis but not found Bamix.

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Name Dropper
Amazon (3rd party) appear to stock it in black - £95.95 - also they sell it £99.99 - hidden on far right of page.

Have you returned your blue one to Lakeland ? They will refund no fuss and no return postage.

We have one and it is great. Unless you already have suitable beakers I would suggest that you also buy at least one to use with it.

Many thanks vandanfc - yes I have phoned Lakeland and they are going to collect early next week. And I can keep the free gift which came with the blenader. However, it is just so annoying because I did specifically ask if it was black prior to purchase. Did not even realise it was very dark blue until after I had washed all the pieces which came with it - duh!!

Amazon - I have not used them and have no idea if they are reliable/reputable. However, I will only deal with a company, not with someone who is selling their goods via that company. Not sure if that applies in this instance.
NB: Have since looked at the site and it does not specifiy (if it does I can't find it) what attachments come with this blender. I can assume that they are the same as the deluxe one from Lakeland, but then again, we all thought the Bamix from Lakeland was black, and how wrong we were!!

Beaker - fortunately I still have a perfectly good one which came with my old stick blender, although it has no lid.

If anyone else has suggestions./recommendations then I would be pleased to hear them.

Anyone with any comments on this subject?
  • I love my Bamix. The only thing I do not like about mine is that it has a straight power cable which sometimes gets tangled around things ( I have overturned my kettle a couple of times) I wish I had one with a curly cable. Also I wouldn`t bother with the SliceSy as it is pants.

I think it is just a case of googling to find the one you want at the best price. If you have your heart set on black then be willing to pay a bit more for it - you should keep it out on the worktop and you really will use it lots. I use mine far more than my old stick blender. You will have it for years so it is worth paying for the colour you want.

I have tried Googling but am having problems finding suppliers. However, I went on to Bamix own site, which does give a supplier in Nottingham so I am going to get in contact with them. It would be good if I could find a local supplier in West Yorkshire so that I can just go along and get one. Maybe the Nottingham company may be able to point me in the right direction ...

I had looked at the SliceSy but had not felt a need to get one, but it is interesting to get a review from someone who has tried it.

I bought mine at a Food Show at the Glasgow Exhibition Centre a few years ago. I love it, and it was a good price, with lots of extras. It might be worth seeing if you have anything similar coming to your area
  • Have finally managed to locate a shop in North Yorkshire which sells these, and has exactly what I want. P&P is free and it should be with the delivery people later today.

Thanks to those who have responded.
  • Hi Loobeylou,

I have been looking at the bamix for a while , what do you think about it? Is it worth the money?

    Thanks in advance :)
  • I use my bamix all the time.

It is great for chopping up garlic and ginger to make a paste which I do every week as I make a lot of curries. I use the little chopping container that comes with it. In fact, I think I might get another one soon.

I use it to blitz my homemade soup. Much quicker and easier than using a liquidiser. (and less to wash up)

Whipping cream is quick and simple.

Don't think I would ever go back to a cheap blender.
