My case has been with the CSA for a year now (started last febuary)
First the NRP told them he was self employed, it got reffered through to self employed team who put it 'in the pile' then I found out he wasn't and gave the CSA his employers details.
The case worker then requested all the wage details from his employer, and then it went to the checking team for 16 weeks, then they said that the caseworker had forgotten a week, so case was sent back to caseworker for her to sort then was resubmitted to the checking team for another 12 weeks.
Finally I got through a letter last November stating they had worked out how much he should pay per week. (there was one mistake on it, he had said he has the children for 78 nights per year, when he is in fact awol) they have said they have wrote him a letter asking about this, but he ignores all letters and phonecalls.
Since then I have no payment schedule, everytime I have rang the CSA, they say they are trying to contact him and have to try a couple of times over 48 hours, but no one has managed to get in touch with him.
Their reason for contacting him is to see if he will pay off any of the 3k arrears before they set up the payment schedule at 40%....well they have been trying since November to get in touch with him.
2 weeks ago, I rang up and the person I spoke to saw that they had tried to contact him so said she would set up the payment schedule and get it sent out.
So I have rang up again today as no payment schedule has arrived, and they tell me that its sitting down in Plymouth (the office i have spoke to all along is belfast) she said she needed to obtain managers permission to get it sent to Belfast so she can action it.
I am quite frustrated at this whole thing, is there anything I can do to speed this up apart from calling every week?

What a palaver! It's ridiculous isn't it.
It sounds to me like your ex is not very compliant with the CSA as he hasn't been co-operating with them. Do you think he is likely to pay at 40% of his own volition, as they seem to think? Because if he is self employed a deduction of earnings order will not be possible.
If I were you I would start pushing for enforcement action to be started now, as that is the only way you will get anything from a non-co-operative self employed nrp who doesn't want to pay.0 -
He is actually self employed in a way, but uses an 'umbrella company' to claim his expenses etc so is legally an employee as he is on PAYE with them.
The CSA said that they have to send out a payment schedule to him first (at last known address) to give him a chance to pay, if he doesn't, then it will get reffered through to enforcement who can sort out a DOE. The problem seems to be getting a payment schedule out in the first place!
He won't pay unless he 'has' to, his reason being that I clearly have too much of my own money as I bought a new car last year.
Oh and of course, there is nothing to stop him using the umbrella company and being officially self employed, and then I am back at square one!2010 resolutions1- get my 5yo DD dry daytime, with enuresis help dry since 12th Jan so far!
