Hi I am hoping someone can come up with ideas, at present I can't enter into any agreements or go bankrupt as my income doesn't cover expenditure following losing hours at work. The debts had built up prior to that and I am not paying the monthly instalments since November.

That's a tough one to follow. I think for a budget like this you can take the weekly amount and apply it to the monthly calculation (52/12) = 4.33 weeks on average per month.
Electricity and gas (combined?) - this is a little high and you may be able to pay less if you are able to switch. Take a look at the comparison sites to try to get the best deal. Also check the meter readings are correct with the company to make sure you are not overpaying and if you have a surplus built up.
Water rates - do you have a hippo or similar in your cistern to use less water when you flush?
Satellite & Internet - can you combine this into a package? It may be cheaper.
Groceries - Over £300 per month? This can be cut. Have a look at the old style board for meal plans and cooking in bulk. Have you moved down a brand?
For the insurances, again i would look at the comparison sites (uswitch, moneysupermarket) and possibly try using one of the cashback sites like quidco to get money back at the same time as switching. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

I am due 90.00 back after a year with my gas/elec from npower and they worked out cheapest on the switch over from Scottish power it is a direct debit they set up based on readings unfortunately.
My landlord has set up the water on rates not meter so usage isn't relevant
I am contracted in with phone calls and internet so can't swop yet.
Food can go down some but that is the monthly figure and including household stuff for washing powder etc. included in that figure and my son and I are both gluten free

Water rates...(not metred) monthly......60.00 can you go metered? average usage works out to around £10-£14 per month (depending where you live) so you should see a saving. Landlord might be agreeable to you switching.

It would really help if you did an all weekly or all monthly budget so you can actually see your monthly shortfall, so you have a target to reduce costs by. As George says for income you need to multiply by 4.33 not by 4 to obtain the monthly figure.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Closed post - thanks guys I will await the budget information from CCIS. I am fully aware of certain items that could be seen to be luxuries but I didn't want my hours to be dropped, nor my ex disappear and leave me with bills, for some I am contracted in and I had a car accident which meant my premium went up on my car insurance which isn't renewed until August am just trying to face up to the debts and deal with them which is a big step when you feel depressed etc. don't worry about replying to this thread any more thanks for the advice will try to get things sorted out. My tax figure was the year actually it is a diesel. I had only kept the insurance up as my mum died in June from breast cancer and worry about leaving the children with no money but yes I agree I could get rid of it.0

Hope you have not taken any of our advise the wrong way.
When people post their SOA we all try and help by going through to see where you could make adjustments.
It is very hard to be faced with this i know, and we can only advise on what we see.
You have done the biggest first step by posting for advise and facing the debt.
Regarding luxeries we are all entitled to some, if you can manage thats fine but when people advise to stop/reduce it is meant with best intentions. And don`t mean it has to be a permanent thing - just until your in a better place.
You need support right now so please don`t leave the forum just yet, we are a friendly bunch honest x

You might also be able to reclaim credit card or store card charges if you've had any - these weren't part of the bank's test case. Might also be worth seeing if they have any Payment Protection Insurance and if this may have been missold.

Looking at the above comments, i can't think of anything new to add at the moment.
For future reference though, try and budget monthly and use this in MSE style. - http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.htmlAlthough no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
