Hey folks,
Got permission from the MSE Forum Team to put this up as it's a local issue and comes from an organisation recommended by Martin in his article on debt: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/debt-help-plan#help
Did you know that debt counselling charity Christians Against Poverty have launched more of their services in Northern Ireland so that now almost 50% of Northern Ireland’s population can have access to their free, confidential service.
Christians Against Poverty is a national debt counselling charity that offers a face-to-face, comprehensive solution that is free to those struggling under the burden of debt. They operate through a growing network of local centres that open in partnership with local churches. Their unique combination of budgeting advice, creditor liaison, provision of a CAP account and personal support empowers people to work themselves out of debt and transform their finances.
There are now centres in Belfast East, Belfast North & Newtownabbey, Carrickfergus, Dungannon, Lurgan & District and the Causeway Coast. If anyone is struggling and would like free help with their finances they can call the free phone number: 0800 328 0006. (Calls from mobiles may be charged).
For more information check out the website: www.capuk.org

Thanks for that. I know alot of people think the bible is nonsense, but having read it, it contains fantastic advice on all matters financial as well as other matters, it makes sense to me
I know alot of business people who are not Christians but apply the financial wisdom from the bible.
Also, if you are into 'end times' stuff this all ties in with the world today and self-sufficiency - wood burners, veggie growing etcGroceries challenge
May - £70 so far:beer::beer:0 -
i think when i have my own house, if i am fortunate enough to have a garden, i will be into the self suffiency stuff like veg growing, an example set to me by my grandparents who always give us lettuce, tomatoes, potatoes, strawberries etc that they grow and have too much! good way of being charitable too, if you grow more than you need why not give it to people who could use it for free.0

Hey everyone
Given the current economic climate, and the recent reports on UTV and BBC about the levels of debt in Northern Ireland figured I'd take the opportunity to bump this up again.
CAP centres have recently opened in Bangor and also in Belfast Central, to extend the coverage of CAP in Northern Ireland.
If you, or someone you know, is struggling with debt then please DO seek help. We'd love you to call CAP on our freephone number, 0800 328 0006 to make an appointment to get a confidential visit in your own home with one of our trained Debt Coaches. BUT if you don't call us, do go to other agencies recommended by Martin in the guide, like the Citizen's Advice Bureau.
There is hope and help, take courage and make the call.
All the best,
Will

Just wanted to add my recommendation - I did the course in my local church in March 2010. I wasnt in debt, but it really helped me focus on my finances and I still use the methods I was taught. Ive saved twice as much last year than ever before.0
