Hi
I wonder if someone can help me. I made a beef stew 2 days ago (using frozen beef which was well in date when frozen) and the left overs have been in the fridge since.
Would it still be OK to reheat and give to my baby tonight? He is 1.
Many thanks

Yes it would, 3 days is the usual 'safety' time. Many have probably eaten Stew long past 3 days.
Just make sure you heat it up fully. The Summer Holiday of a Lifetime0 -
Thanks very much. I thought so - I think stew is supposed to be better the next day, isn't it?, but I tend to get a bit panicky after the 2nd because I am still learning the rules.
Thanks for the advice.0 -
OK, stupid question. How would you heat it? Microwave or stove (or oven?) And for how long (it is about 1 medium adult portion)0

I would heat it on the hob, slowly and thoroughly, stirring lots
It will be yum x

I agree, def on the hob and slowly, you tend to get cold spots in the microwave. The Summer Holiday of a Lifetime0 -

Erin Pizzey wrote an excellent book, The !!!!!!'s Cook Book, shame it's out of print now. In it she gave a recipe for a four-day stew. Day 1 - Make a huge vat of stew and eat some. Day 2 - add extra vegetables and wine to leftovers and eat. Day 3 - Curry remainder and eat. Day 4 - if any left, put it on the garden to kill the weeds. One life - your life - live it!0

To be on the safe side I would bring it to the boil for a few minutes then simmer.
Use your nose, does it smell different? Some vegetables such as turnip can lessen the life of soups & stews.
