I have a trolley that sometimes gets used.
Mine is the four wheeled cage type with a bag in.
I managed to trip over with it twice and bruise my shins so Im more careful with it now.
They are useful if you have a lot of heavy library books as well as for shopping.
My parents never had a car. We used to bus and train or just walk.I wish I didnt have a car now. The only reason to use it, is to take my son to adult ed classes which are about 5 miles away and no public transport nearby.
Id have gone by bike but he isnt that confident on the road on his bike and the roads are so much busier now.0 -

Cost up how much ya car costs you in a year - If you ordered ya son a weekly taxi to take to and from adult class would you still save money? You can get quite a few taxis for what a car costs you per year- just a thought

Well, I couldn't do without my car I'm afraid. Believe me, if I could I would because I hate driving. Even though I am within 15 minutes walking distance of some local shops, including a CoOp supermarket I have to give my daughter lifts to college and take her to work and back a few evenings a week. There are certain things you can only get from the town too, which is a 15 minute drive away.
However, I now have three Cavalier King Charles Spaniels which forces me to go out walking. They adore going for walks and it certainly gets me out. I wouldn't walk at all if I didn't have them. I remember the first walk I did with them (it was only a gentle 10 minute walk but I really felt it on my legs and was a bit out of puff too!). I can now go much further and it is no strain at all. So I must be fitter than I was! It also costs absolutely nothing!
Its a case of finding what suits you and fitting it in to your life so that it becomes the norm.0 -
My mum is trying to make me drive ;D When I was 17 she offered to pay for lessons and the test. She offered again when I was 18, and a few times since. She can't understand why I say no, but I've just never been bothered. Then hubby started going on about it so to shut them up I had some lessons with a friend. Everyone was amazed when, on my second lesson, he told me to parallel park and I zipped in the space just like that. Perfect ;D But I didn't enjoy driving at all so I stopped learning. I get about by walking, pushbike and the bus if it's raining or I've got heavy shopping. When the kids were at junior school it was 1.5-2 miles away(not sure exactly) and we walked. After a couple of weeks the kids got used it.Bulletproof0
