SD memory card, 512Mb

Options
Bought the mp3 player from mymemory.co.uk for under £21 delivered. I use a 128Mb card at the moment but spotted this 512Mb SD card delivered for £27.69 from this place http://www.valueflash.co.uk/SD_card.htm
May not be a known brand name but comes with a 5 year gaurentee. Can use it for my digital camera as well. :)

Does anyone know if SD cards are all pretty much the same. There seems to be a large difference in price between the various brands that make them, plus there are hi-speed ones too.
Will cheaper brands perform in exactly the same way, and are hi-speed ones worth the premium?
  • Cheaper ones will still perform the same as faster more expensive ones. Personally I wouldn't pay a premium just so I can load it up with mp3's a minute or so faster. Cheaper ones only come with 5 year gurentee as oposed to the 10 year ones.
    You pays your money etc.

I agree that for music its really not worth it. However if you have a very powerful digital camera with a huge mega pixel image then they are essential especially for capturing multiple quick shots and video clips, where you need the transfer between the capturing and the storage as fast as possible.
  • Try the link below for a 1Gb SD card, it is the Ultra 60 version. This has a faster transfer time than normal SD cards. I got one of these for my digital camera (it now means I can fire off loads of pics as it writes to the card very fast, a normal SD card causes a noticeable delay when shooting continuous pics).

It is £52.86 inc. delivery. Probably the cheapest you'll find, its in demand and stock tends to fly off the shelves. They do a 512Mb Ultra 60 SD card for £28.78. Like I said its only worth it if you need fast transfer times.
