I found it'd give a recipe that needed a whole raft of ingredients I didn't have. e.g. if I told it I had an egg and a potato, it wouldn't suggest egg and chips, but would have something like beef and potato curry with egg fried rice... so the solution just had stuff you didn't have.

i just tried cooking by numbers and it seemed pretty good, it does give you lots of recipes you dont have all the in ingredients for, but it says you have 80% of 6 ingredients for xxxxxx so if you were interested you could look and see what was missing and maybe miss it out or substitute.. and it did give me fried egg as an option!!
