anyone know how long it takes for a default to get removed and is it after the debt is paid off

A default stays on file for 6years from the original default date (irrespective of whether the debt is paid), then it will drop off the report. Once paid the file should be marked as a satisfied default (which is a bit better than an unsatisfied one).A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
