What a ridiculous age we live in when people can sue their employer because they obtained an injury doing the hard-grafting task of...

    ...cleaning?

Seriously, all this talk of "oh were you trained" and "was there a risk assessment?" etc. Pathetic tbh. Do you really need to be shown how to wipe some tables with a cloth? Oh, and go careful when filling the mop bucket! If someone tried to show me how to clean they'd I'd be mopping the floor with their face. How do you clean at home? Were you sufficiently trained? Or do you just live in a dump?

This stinks of "yeh I've got a bad back because I'm weak, let's try and find some ridiculous clause that allows me to claim lots of money".

My thoughts exactly. I couldn't read it due to the caps.

It is not pathetic as all employers have a duty of care.
You may well choose to ignore advice but I wouldn't suggest your violent response to be appropriate.

I doubt from what the OP has posted so far that there is much of a case to answer but you never know, stranger things have happened.
We all evolve - get on with it
  • OP - I completely sympathise with you for your bad back, speaking frm experience I know how debilitating this condition can be, although I was considerably lucky and was able to return to my full time job after just two weeks.

However, I do feel it would be extremely difficult to prove that the condition was caused by your job. Back pain, as previously mentioned can occur in a wide spectrum of patients, fat, skinny, fit, slob :), manual labourers, office workers, old, young etc etc.

And very rarely, unless the pain onset is sudden (as in, picking a box up and bang thats's it) can the cause be determined.

BTW I am not a medical person, just stating my opinions, be they right or wrong!

I do hope the surgery finally gives you some relief, it did me and I have never looked back since.
Light travels faster than sound - that's why you can see someone who looks bright until they open their mouth.

he / she probably wants everyone to give love and empathy to what looks like a classic example of 2010 British culture of entitlements.

    Well stuff that.

"I got a bad back. It might be due to work, so how can i work it to get 'me entitlements' out of them."

    god help us.
