Hi,
Just a quick one,
Due to bing very lazy this week
I have got quite a bit of veg that need using up
My Aunt has just given my her slow cooker to try before I get one for myself so I was thinking of making a veg soup in but I have a few questions
There is no instructions with the cooker so what setting do I put it on and for how long??? The dial just has Off/Low/High/Warm on it (it's a cookworks signatur slow cooker)
Do I just cut the veg up (carrot, sweed, parsnips, potato, onions) add veg stock cube and cover with water??
I know veg soup should be simple and your probably thinking I have no brain!! But I'm not a big cook and I've never used a slow cooker before

i'd say depending when you want it ready,
chop up, cover with stock, leave on high for an hour then turn to low, would be ready this evening or to be doubly sure on high for 2-3 hours.
personally i also warm the pot with a little hot water b4 turning on when i'm doing soup but thats just me

Hiya, that sounds right. Chop it all up and add the liquid. I put mine on high for the first hour and then turn to low for the next 7/8 hours.
When it is all cooked I give it a whizz in the blender. Enjoy. If winter comes, can spring be far behind?

Thanks!
I've put it on and will see how it goes.
Going to check out the board for more slow cooker ideas as I want to be able to put something in before I go to work and have a nice tea ready when I get home that I can also mash up and feed to my baby

I never make soup without sweating off some onion and celery first as I find it a bit bland otherwise. Not sure what your baby will think, though.0
