old mattress protector

hi,
I'm new to this board having been a fan of the quick grabbit threads over the sales!
I've just had to replace my mattress protector as the sides of it that go round the side of the mattress had loads of holes in them but the protector bit itself is still pretty ok. Any ideas what I could do with the quilted bit?

I'm playing all the right notes, just not necessarily in the right order!

you could cut off the rest of the edges and put it under your new mattress protector for extra warmth, or if it's a double/king size pop it on a single bed if you have one and tuck it round. roll it up and put in a material tube and use as a door draught excluder. wrap it round delicate plants to lessen risk of frost damage. put in a spare similar sized quilt cover, and sew over and around it and you've made a nice easy bedspread/throw.0

I would get the sewing machine out and make pillow covers to go under the pillow cases. If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
Spring begins on 21st March.0 -
Sew strong elastic to each corner so that it loops over the corners of the mattress to hold it in place.0
