Patial settlement on CCJ?

Hello all,
We have just found a CCJ on my husband's credit file that he claims to know nothing about - it is possible that the letters went to an old address - is it possible to offer a full and final payment lower than the amount showing on a CCJ?

In theory, yes.
See: http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/england_wales/factsheet.php?page=24_full_and_final_settlement_offers
In addition to the above, you would need to GUARANTEE that you have it in writing from the creditor that the CCJ is settled.
You NEED that so that you can apply to the court for a "certificate of satisfaction". That will ensure that the CCJ is legally done and dusted.
I would suggest giving the people in the above link a call. Calls to them are free, as is their advice.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

he can challenge the CCJ on the grounds that's nothing to do with him (i.e he dos owe the debt)
or that he didn't receive the summons
but yes it is possible to offer a F&F settlement lower than the CCJ amount but you must get the offer clearly in writing.0 -

I'm not sure the OP is quite claiming that here.or that he didn't receive the summons
Only if you can prove to the court that you did keep the creditor up to date with your current address.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
