M&S Food Item Returns - what's their policy

Went to have the tuna steak i got from M&S on saturday for my dinner tonite, it was ok date wise up till today but the colour looked a bit odd and when i opened it the smell was even worse. I've rung M&S up and am to take the outer packaging back with me receipt (which i explained i probably wouldn't have as i don't keep receipts for food items!) so i just wondered what their policy is, will i just get a straight refund or a goodwill gesture etc?

Should just be a straight refund. Goodwill is normally only used when you make a complaint and have a sample of the food and receipt with you
  • when we had a tart style thing from them that we had cooked that was not great I emailed them the batch number etc and they sent a letter that I took into marks and spencer and they refunded me the amount.
