It should be covered for major faults, but wear and tear items like tyres/light bulbs will not be covered. Service should be free, but get it in before the warranty expires!

Very few cars have free servicing during any warranty period, even Chevrolet (formerly Daewoo) no longer do the free service package.

There isn't enough information here to answer your question accurately but as a general rule many manufacturers give 1/2/3 years mechanical warranty for large components like gearbox, engine etc and around 5 years warranty for bodywork. The validity of the warranty will depend on the whether the previous owner has abided by the small print such as keeping it serviced as per the service schedule.

There is another possibility - the warranty could be an insurance policy taken out to cover periods such as 3/6/12 months and normally is again just for major components.

You are likely to find that at 30,000 miles you are possibly looking at replacing a set of tyres, front brake pads and even part of an exhaust system. The 30,000 mile service can also be one of the most expensive for some car makes as it tends to fall around the 3 year old timeframe. This may involve brake fluid, anti freeze, fuel filter etc changes.

Hope this has been of some help and isn't doom and gloom news.

Waranty is soooo dependant on the manufactuer, our central looking went recently, and we were covered for a new motor (one in each door apparently) but not if the fault was electrical, but they had to take it appart to know what the problem was...and to use/access any waranty you need to be the registered owner of the vehicle WITH THE WARANTY PEOPLE this is different from being the legal registered owner and some compaints (ie fiat) charge £20+ to change their records and allow you to use the waranty.
If you buy from a garage they should change the name when you buy it, but often don't, i doubt the auction house would pay though. Call the company, fiat/ford etc and they'll tell you for sure
Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.
