I spent more than half the last decade acting like a complete prat and done my credit rating no favours, I frequently missed payments on credit cards and loans, I have no CCJ’s but came close a few times.
Now things are very much different, I’ve been out of debt for 3 years pay my bills on time and want to buy my fist home My salary is ok, ive got a 10% deposit, the mortgage will workout less than my current rent. I’m unsure on what kind of checks a mortgage company will do but I can’t get a mobile phone contract with my current credit rating, Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

honestly? I think you are going to struggle....sorry.
Absolutely no harm though in taking your credit file to a good whole of market broker who should be able to let you know if it's a goer or not.
