Help! Advice on credit card debt.

Hi everybody,
I am new to here and am wondering if anybody had any help or give any advice!

I have an ok wage around £1700 p/m but have quite a lot of debt my credit cards totalling around - £13000 and a h/p of £10000.
I just can't seem to make a dent in the debts and would'nt mind if I never had anything on credit again!
After paying my bills & childcare there is just enough left over to make the minimum repayments to my credit cards.
I have tried applying for other credit cards with 0% on balance transfers but have been declined.
I am only 25 but if I carry on like this I am going to be 65 before they are paid off! As I mentioned before I do not ever want to use another credit card , I have always paid at least the minimum payment on all my cards and never been late , but after paying for the essentials there is nothing left over! Does any one know If I would be in a position to ask for some sort of payment plan ? or if there is any other way i could negotiate reduced intrest rates? I would really appreciate any advice. Thanks

Hi and welcome to the board.

In order for us to answer your questions and try to help it would be useful if you could post up a statement of affairs (this is an income & expenditure statement with a list of debts) - this link takes you to the form - http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html

Once we have seen this we may either be able to suggest ways you can free up more money to repay your debts or can suggest ways forward to make day to day living easier financially (such as reduced payment plans or debt management plans).

Hi and welcome - I'm trailing through the pages tonight...

Tixy's link to Make Sense of Cards also had the "snowball" calculator whci you can have a play about with and see when your debts might be paid off depending on what amounts you pay ans to whom.

You could contact CCCS http://www.cccs.co.uk/, PayPlan http://www.payplan.com/ or National Debtline http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/, if you would like more advice on whether a debt management plan (DMP) would be suitable for your situation. They are free, idependent charities and will give you good advice and ensure you understand all the implications of the different choices available to you.

    Good luck :)
